I was thrilled when Mitzi asked if I would guest for her on the Aurora Wings Challenge Blog, and did not hesitate to say yes! I chose this fabulous Snow Queen – Blooms of Ice for my project, and you can find her here in the shop.
I knew that I wanted to create a framed piece, and that I wanted to create a frosty feel, as if the snow queen was freezing the glass and frame….
I took a plain frame from Ikea and added some crinkled tissue paper using Mod Podge. Once dry I painted with white gesso and sprinkled glitter into the gesso while wet. Meanwhile I coloured the image with Copics and Promarkers, then trimmed to fit the frame.
I used DecoArt Glass Frost Enamels paint in white to make the glass look frozen around the edges, applying with a sponge, and sprinkling glitter into the paint while wet. I gradually built up the effect in layers until I was happy.
I added some acetate snowflakes and glass beads to the frame for extra sparkle and shine.
I love all the texture:
I hope that you enjoyed looking at my wintery project. Why not join in the challenge with us – the theme is Anything Goes, and you could win some amazing digistamps from Mitzi’s shop.
