Thanks for coming back again for my second Visible Image stamps post this week – I hope I am not boring you!!
I have been playing with the MDF monoliths again to create a funky Day of the Dead project:
To begin, I cut an arch shape out of 2 sheets of grey board with a Sizzix die, and glued it onto the front of the monolith to create the recess for the skull. The whole piece was then painted with Dylusions Pomegranate Seed acrylic paint and allowed to dry. Next a coat of DecoArt Weathered Wood was applied, and once that was dry a coat of Dylusions Tangerine Dream acrylic paint was painted on top. I love the crackle effect you get with Weathered Wood!!
I added some gold highlights with Pebeo gilding wax. The letters are die cut with a Sizzix die and glued into place. I stamped the skull onto white card and added the ‘sugar skull’ details with a fine liner and Copics. I glued two resin flowers over the eyes as a finishing touch.
