Skull Appreciation Day Blog Hop

If you are looking for skully inspiration, then look no further – welcome to the Skull Appreciation Day Blog Hop brought to you by the Smeared and Smudged members.

If you are following the hop you will have arrived from Fiona and your next stop is Leigh S-B. The full blog roll is below, if you get lost you can always go back to the top and start over.

On to my project: I have decorated a wooden pencil pot with Stampbord panels and skull beads.

Smeared Ink/Rick St Dennis - Morte

I used a glue gun to attach the skull beads to the base of the pot, then painted it with DecoArt Dazzling Metallics paint in Copper and set aside to dry.

Meanwhile I took four ATC sized pieces of Stampbord and coloured them with Peacock Feathers and Vintage Photo Distress Inks, blending with CutnDry foam. I then stamped images from the Morte set of rubber stamps onto each panel with black StazOn ink. Now the fun began – I used a scraper tool to etch into the surface to reveal the white highlights. I love the extra detail you can create this way (I just wish Stampbord wasn’t so expensive!!)

Once I was happy with each panel I glued them to the pencil pot with Pinflair Glue Gel and left to dry. Finally I used some DecoArt Media Antiquing Cream in black to dull down the copper areas along the edges and feet. I swiped a bit of Copper Gilding wax along the edges of the panels for  a metallic shine.
