My Adventures With Lavinia

If you were expecting an epic tale of how myself and an imaginary lady called Lavinia saved the world from certain doom, you will be disappointed! However, if you would like to see my first attempt at cardmaking with Lavinia Stamps, then you should be pretty satisfied.

I have always liked Lavinia Stamps – lovely little fairy silhouettes and whimsical toadstools that combine together to create fantasy scenes. Until now though, I have never actually sat down and made a card with them. I have to thank Pauline Butcher for inspiring me to have a go – take a look at her blog here and marvel at the colourful prettiness of her creations!

I cut a square of white card and applied Broken China, Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry, Shabby Shutters, Mowed Lawn and Mustard Seed Distress Inks – blending the colours to get a pretty rainbow effect. Then I used Artiste gold Spritzing spray over the whole area to add some pearly shine.

Once that was dry, I stamped the ‘Fairy Washing Line’ stamp in the centre with black Memento ink.

I used one of my favourite Tonic dies to cut the lattice and cut the (solid) centre out with a circle die. I used d/s tape to stick this over the inked background. Then I stamped the ‘Zen Tall Mushrooms’ onto white card, cut them out and clear embossed over the top to make them shiny. I attached these to the card front with 3d foam.

I used a Joy Crafts die to cut the grass strip from black card and added that along the bottom.

Finally I stamped the first two lines from the ‘Summer’s Ebb’ verse stamp (the words felt appropriate to the design) onto white card and cut it out with a Sue Wilson die. I mounted this in the top corner with 3d foam.

I am really pleased with the finished card, I love the combination of colours showing through the black die cuts.
