I can’t believe that we are in August already!! It’s time for another challenge on the Country View Challenge blog, and the theme is Sun, Sea and Sand. Here in the UK we have been having a prolonged spell of very hot weather, so it is a very apt theme for us. I have drawn on memories of family holidays as a small child for my piece today:
I painted a little wooden ‘shrine’ with some cheery red and buff stripes – reminiscent of beach huts and Punch and Judy shows. A little detail with a black UniPin pen and some Walnut Stain Distress Ink added some character.
I added an offcut of scrapbook paper inside – an image of the sea washing over a sandy beach.
The couple from the Tim Holtz Paper Dolls pack brings back fun memories….even if the weather was poor, we would still make our way down to the beach each day along with all the other holiday makers. This was your one week at the seaside and you would make the most of it, even if you had to wear a hat and coat to keep warm!!!
I finished by stamping my quote onto some white card, and adding some Distress Ink to age it. I topped it off with a tiny painted flag on a piece of wire.
