When I first heard about the Makey Bakey Mice range from Crafters Companion, I was expecting something them to be rather twee and cutesie…..however, when I saw them I soon changed my mind! Yes, they are cute little mice, and yes, they are a little bit twee – but the characters are charming and I love them all.
This month’s challenge on the Crafters Companion blog is (not surprisingly!) all about Winter and Christmas – so I got the chance to use this happy little skater mouse.
I stamped the image three times so that I could decoupage it – the stamps are a perfect size for this. Once again I’ve used black Memento ink so that I could colour him in with my Spectrum Noir pens. The colours I used are:
Mouse – TN1, TN3, TN4, CR4
Coat and Skates – DG1, DG2, DG3, GB3, GB7, GG1, GG3, Blender
Here’s a close up of the layers:
I mounted the image onto some white card-stock that I embossed with a Cuttlebug snowflake design, and some silver mirri card. The patterned backing paper is an off-cut that I’ve had for some time and unfortunately I can’t remember the make.
The greeting is a stamp that I picked up in Hobbycraft last year, and is stamped with Mountain Lake Versacolour ink. I made a ‘frame’ of sorts for it with blue pearl and white card, raised up with some foam tape.
All that remained to be added was a bit of ribbon, and this black gingham was perfect!
