With Halloween fast approaching, today’s project has a spooky feel to it. The Z box fold card is a popular shape right now, so here is my version:
You will need two pieces of card (I used black) for the basis of this card, and some patterned or printed card to decorate the panels.
Cut one piece of black card 4.25in x 5.5in. This will be the back of your card blank.
Cut the second piece of black card 9.75in x 4in. This will be the piece you fold.
- Measure 3in in from left hand edge and 1in up from bottom and make a mark.
- Measure 3.75in from right hand edge and 1in up from bottom and make a mark.
- Draw a line between the two marks and cut along it.
- Score from the left end of the cut up to the top edge of the card.
- Score from the right end of the cut down to the bottom edge of the card.
- Measure 4.5in from left hand edge of card and score from top to bottom.
I used some gelli prints to decorate my card blank, you could use some designer papers or ink or stamp your own background designs.
The right hand panel of the folded card is glued to the other piece of black card to complete the card blank.
I stamped the large skull from the Mr Bone Jangles set onto my front panel, and the large moth from the Glimmer of Light set onto the back panel. I used a white gel pen to add some detail to the moth.
I added some smaller skulls to the back panel, stamping onto a scrap of paper before stamping onto my printed background. This gives a soft ghost stamped effect.
I stamped six small moths onto some printed card and fussy cut them. I added some white highlights with a gel pen before shaping the wings with my fingers. I added one moth to the large skull, and attached the others to some short lengths of florists’ wire. These were attached inside the ‘box’ with tape.
Finally I stamped the words from the Tomorrow Doesn’t Exist Set and ‘adapted’ them to my needs before attaching with 3d foam!!
