Welcome back for part two f my Dare To Create odyssey. I was not planning on making a second entry, but everybody was so complimentary about my first project that I decided to rise to Tracy’s challenge and create another project to enter into her group album.
Once again I have tried to incorporate a bit of Andy Skinner and a bit of Tracy Weinzapfel into my piece, and lots of DecoArt products!
I took a greyboard door hanger from my stash and applied a generous coat of modelling paste. I gave it a blast with my heat gun until it was just setting on the surface, then stamped into it with some Andy Skinner Steampunk stamps. I then set it aside to dry completely before painting. I used Dioxazine Purple as the base coat, then dry brushed with progressively paler shades of blue, finishing with white. This really highlights the texture.
I gave the MDF heart a coat of gesso, and once dry added some Crackle Paste. While this was drying I antiqued the skull charm (originally brass colour) with Quinacridone Gold, Patina Green Antiquing Cream and Titanium White.
Once the crackles had appeared I used Pyrrole Red and Quinacridone Magenta to coat it, leaving to dry before adding some antiquing cream to highlight the cracks.
The wings are greyboard, painted white and accented with black antiquing cream.
Once everything was assembled I added the sentiment to finish my piece.
I am entering the following challenges:
Stamplorations – Stamp and Texture
We Love To Create – ATG Mixed Media
That Craft Place – ATG
Allsorts Challenge – Wings
