Christmas is Coming…

I’ve already been busy making sample Christmas cards for a few weeks now, so when I saw this month’s challenge on the Crafter’s Companion blog I just couldn’t resist having a go.

They have so many beautiful products in their Christmas range that I was spoilt for choice!! Eventually I decided on this cute ‘Friends and Family’ stamp from the Barkley range and teamed it with the Magic Mirror die set from Die’Sire and the Christmas Patchwork embossing folder (also by Die’Sire). The ovals were cut using Nellie’s Oval Multi Frame set.

I stamped the image using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and coloured it with the following Promarkers:

Poppy, Burgundy, Cool Grey1, Cool Grey2, Cool Grey 4, Sunflower, Gold, Satin, Blush, Forest Green, Pine Green, Arctic Blue, Blender

HANDY TIP: Where the colour bled onto the snowflakes (or I wasn’t careful enough to stay outside the line!), I just used a white gel pen to ‘clean up’ the snow.

The background was embossed onto Faded Jeans Core’dinations card which I then lightly sanded to add definition to the embossed design. I also used a very small amount of Black Soot Distress Ink around the edge of the Magic Mirror die to soften the finish. The white was very stark without it.

I stamped the greeting from the set and layered that onto some more of the red card that I had used behind the picture, and added a few adhesive gems (because you have to have sparkle at Christmas!) I also added some sumptuously soft velvet ribbon in a beautiful berry red because I love to incorporate different textures into my cards.

I just love everything about this card…the colours, textures and overall design. My favourite bit has to be the cute little kitten in his snazzy top hat!!
