Left of Center Facebook Challenge – November

Well, the chaos of October and all it’s Halloween festivities is over but if you are still in the mood for some Left of Center creating then why not join in our Facebook Contest. Our fabulous sponsor this month is Nikki Burnette and I have used the beautiful Telsa for my creation, available in her shop here.

I was inspired by a friend to create this mixed media assemblage, and I really enjoyed it….I shall definitely be making more of these in the future!!

Apologies for lots of photos but I thought you might like to see how I created it:

I started with a canvas board and added a selection of wooden shapes, buttons, chipboard, metal objects, clay shapes, embossed card, beads, flowers and lace. Once I was happy with the arrangement I glued it all in place with Pinflair Glue Gel.

Once the glue was dry I coated everything with Gesso.

Then, when the gesso was dry (thankfully not too long) I added acrylic paint, dark grey, blue,  and cream – starting with the darkest shades, working through to paler ones.

I then added some extra depth, colour and shine with gilding waxes – Graphite and Royal Blue Inca Gold, and Gold Pebeo.

The image was coloured with Promarkers, carefully cut out and glued into the frame. I added some black and gold mica spray over the top to age it.

The finished piece once more :

I hope that you like this – it’s a great way to use up those odds and ends that have been rattling around in a drawer for ages.

I am entering the following challenges:
