Red, White and Blue

January heralds the start of a new year….and a lot of male birthdays. I always find it hard to find inspiration for men’s cards (like most of my crafting friends) but was really impressed with PaperMania’s new Portobello Road range – so I bought the Union Jack embossing folder, buttons and London stamps. This is what I came up with:

I already had the backing paper and Keep Calm stamp but had never used them, I thought they fitted perfectly with the other products.

The button added a bit of dimension to the happy birthday stamp.

I coloured the buses using the warm grey Promarkers (I thought that red might be a bit overpowering) and added some clear gems over the headlights to add a bit of sparkle.

I am really pleased with the finished cards (I made four like this) and have plenty of ideas for using the other stamps in the set for cards later in the year. I have entered this card into the ‘Inspired by a Song’ challenge over at Passion for Promarkers because it reminds me of the song ‘London Calling’.
